Personality:
With Caren, we see a bundle of contrasts. At first sight, she is mysterious, aloof, and seems, at times haughty with the statement, “It’s not time for us to meet yet”.
And yet, as we go further along with her story, we see in hindsight that it wasn’t arrogance or an attempt to bait. It was truly a statement of fact, that the protagonist was not ready to meet her and understand why she was there in the first place-that it would have caused far more damage than good for all the facts to be known. Caren is, at least with actions and not with words, capable of great kindness.
But her acts of kindness are not always easy to understand, nor do they come across as such, at least at first. It doesn’t help that she does enjoy using blunt honesty, as well as teasing, with people that she knows, especially those she’s fond about. She also has a fondness for cruelty and suffering, including her own-though there are times where she refrains, for the greater good. For there is one thing that trumps over her sense of humor, her desires and needs.
And that is to be living sacrifice.
With her background of being raised as a tool, and with her body being prone to injury and illness, she knows her life is short, and will likely end in pain and suffering. But other people have a chance to live better then her, to keep fulfilling better lives-so she will do what she can if they’re in danger, overt or more subtle. She has put her life on the line for strangers, even let herself die horribly during a time loop so that other people wouldn’t be a target of a Servant’s rage.
And yet, she won’t throw herself into harm's way too foolheartedly. After all, if she is harmed doing one action, she will not be able to save another-and there is no one person that stands above the rest.
Caren does what she can, using her intelligence and observational skills to make the greatest impact and render what assistance that she can. This is, however, not always easy to detect. As said before, she can throw people off. Sometimes it is intentional from what she says; sometimes her passion and determination can be underestimated due to her cool veneer and introspective nature. Caren’s childhood was, according to her, not one that needed her to speak, nor one where her opinions were encouraged. It is difficult to know if she was always quietly observational, or if it was a skill that developed over time.
Nonetheless, Caren, for all that she can be stoic, sardonic, rude, and yes, cruel, is capable of great kindness. Even if kindness in return is confusing to her-or, heck, even being wanted- she continues to express it in her own way.
Learning that she, and not what she can offer, is desirable, will be something difficult for her to learn. But she may relax, and even enjoy it, if given with sincerity. With luck, she may even have friends for the first time.
Abilities & Skills:
Abilities: Caren was born with Masochistic Pneumatic Automatism Diathesis. With it, her body was able to detect the presence of daemons and evil. It means that while daemons are within a certain radius (though it wasn’t said specifically what that radius was; it could be assumed that it’s within a city or town radius) her body will start mimicking the appearance of the demon itself. It, and even small evils such as lies, causes pain for her. (Aka she’s used to using a lot of bandages and various kinds of body horror.)
Skills:
Gardening: Helped maintain Church garden, which mostly consisted of herbs and flowers.
Medical: Has some kind of medical training, unknown how much-but known that she was able to nurse someone in a coma and has had to take care of her own illness and injuries.
Musical: Can read music and can play the organ.
Domestic: Has a history of taking care of house chores, including mending and cooking.
Linguistics: Knows Italian, at least Church Latin, as well as Japanese. Possible that she also knows English, but unconfirmed.
Inventory/Companions: Comes in wearing Exorcist outfit: Blouse, panties, tights, hat, flat shoes; Shroud of Magdalene, rendered inert (Which will basically be a red overlarge cloth, easily mistaken for an oversized shawl or a blanket).
Choice: Chimera -either griffin or kirin or something that can take advantage of her appearance and make her look even more otherworldly.
Reason: Not only is she used to her body changing into monstrous mimics, but she’s not used to having the increased strength and stamnia because of it. Caren is used to being delicate and going forward on sheer determination; being able to endure and not physically fall apart in an emergency would be something she’d have to adjust to, even more then having wings or a tail or a stinger. It’d be more interesting to see what she’d do with physical strength, and the bond, even if there would be possibilities of her being a witch.
